Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook leaves generous tip for housekeepers inside the bubble

Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook left an $8,000 tip for the housekeepers at the Grand Floridian Hotel when the Rockets left the bubble.

A person with knowledge of Westbrook’s tip confirmed the amount to USA TODAY Sports. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Westbrook left a thank you letter along with the tip, according to a report.

"They took great care of us. Took the time and energy to do their job at a high level. That was the right thing. I like to do the right thing," Westbrook told Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report.

The Rockets were in the hotel from July 9 until Sept. 12, after being eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.

The league resumed the season July 30 with strict health and safety protocols in place inside the Disney bubble, including daily testing for players and contact tracing. Disney assigned housekeeping staff to a specific set of floors at the Grand Floridian.
