Dana White says he would BET on Khabib Nurmagomedov reversing his UFC retirement, and claims Russian could face any of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler or Tony Ferguson next in the Octagon

  • Dana White is willing to put money on Khabib Nurmagomedov returning to UFC
  • The Russian announced his retirement last month after beating Justin Gaethje
  • But the UFC supremo is convinced he will return in search of a 30-0 record

Dana White is willing to put money on Khabib Nurmagomedov making a sensational return to the Octagon, despite announcing his retirement last month,

The Russian fighter hung up his gloves after an emotional victory over Justin Gaethje in Abu Dhabi in October.

Khabib cited the death of his father, Abdulmanap, who passed away in July after complications brought about by coronavrius, as the reason for calling it quits.

But White believes Khabib will return for one more fight, in order to attain a 30-0 winning record, and he even namechecked four possible opponents for the comeback fight.

‘If I had to make a bet — and I’m a betting man — I would bet he does [return],’ he told TMZ Sports.

‘So, yeah … I think he will.’

And he pointed to two upcoming fights, Conor McGregor’s return against Dustin Poirier on January 23, and Michael Chandler’s mooted clash with Tony Ferguson.

He added: ‘We’ll see how all these things play out here… One of those guys would definitely be in for the fight.’

McGregor signed his bout agreement for his rematch with Poirier on Friday.

The news was confirmed by the Dubliner’s own media outlet, The Mac Life, with the bout scheduled to take place at lightweight. Poirier already signed his contract last week.

The fight, which Dana White has said will not be for a title, is likely to go down on ‘Fight island’ in Abu Dhabi.

‘I am very grateful to be about to return and get to do what I love again,’ McGregor recently said regarding the contest.

Michael Chandler is due to return to the Octagon and face Ferguson in the future

‘I look forward to the fresh test Dustin will bring since our first bout, while also showcasing my own incredibly deep cache of weaponry. Whatever tool is needed on the night will be pulled from the duffel.

‘I am also really excited about aiding Dustin’s charity “The Good Fight Foundation”, which through the donation, will build a gym/premise for disadvantaged youth in his childhood hometown.

‘I truly love this, and pledge to match the donation on a premise in my own childhood hometown! Both spots with an ode to the upcoming bout.’
