Austin Ekeler will be out a while.
The Chargers running back suffered what is considered a serious hamstring injury, and while no firm decision will be made until all the analysis is done, he’ll most likely be placed on injured reserve with the hope of returning later in the season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Ekeler was carted into the locker room during the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers and didn’t return. L.A. coach Anthony Lynn said afterward that the injury “looked pretty bad” but provided no further update.
Now it appears the Chargers will be without one of their top offensive weapons for an extended period. Ekeler is leading the team in rushing and is third in receiving.
Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.
