The Panthers look set to role the dice at the judiciary on Tuesday night in a bid to beat Viliame Kikau’s dangerous throw charge and allow him to play in the preliminary final.
Kikau was charged by the match review committee with a grade-one dangerous throw on Roosters’ prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the eighth minute of the Panthers’ 29-28 win to reach the second last game of the season.
Waerea-Hargreaves was also charged by the match review committee over a high tackle on Dylan Edwards, but will be issued a fine and escape suspension.

The Panthers have nothing to lose by fighting the dangerous throw charge given Kikau would still only miss one game if found guilty.
The 25-year-old could have avoided a suspension had he not had carry-over points from a dangerous contact charge from a tackle on Sharks half Braydon Trindall in Round 15.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the Panthers have approached high profile lawyer Nick Ghabar to handle Kikau’s defence.
“He [Waerea-Hargreaves] definitely went past horizontal, but I thought he did enough to get him out of that dangerous position,” Panthers coach Ivan Cleary said post match.
“The problem with ‘Kiks’ is he’s so big and he gets discriminated against because he’s so big. Everything he does looks worse.”
