Chelsea new signing Edouard Mendy has opened up on Petr Cech in training after his inclusion in the 23-man Premier League squad named by Frank Lampard. It means Cech could make a surprise return in goal for the Blues at some point this season.
However, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero are also other options at Stamford Bridge.
Mendy is delighted with the influence of Cech in training though and believes he can learn a lot from the Chelsea legend.
The former Rennes man is now first choice at Stamford Bridge and should start later today against Manchester United.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be with him every day, to work with him and particularly in training,” Mendy said.

“It allows me to see how he works and analyse how he trains as well. It’s a bonus for me being here.
“In terms of him playing, I think we’ve got three very competitive goalkeepers here already and that should be enough for us this season.”
Mendy insists Kepa’s poor form had no influence on his decision to make the move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
He added: “Everyone who knows and follows football could see there was a unique situation here regards to goalkeepers but it wasn’t something that had any role in my decision to come to Chelsea.

“I was focusing on what the coach had told me about coming here.
“He, along with the rest of the club, reassured me that this would be the best place for me to continue developing and help the team.
“That’s what I’m continuing to focus on.”
Meanwhile, Lampard has ruled out Kepa from the match with United meaning Cech could be on the bench at Old Trafford.
“Kepa’s injury was something that he picked up in the Southampton game,” he revealed.

“It’s a shoulder injury and it was something that he carried along on the bench in midweek against Sevilla.
“He had a bit of pain in training so he’s had to take a step back this weekend but hopefully it’s not long-term.”
United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford in the Premier League with kick-off at 5.30pm later today.
A Chelsea win would see them move five points clear of United but if the Red Devils are victorious they will leapfrog the Blues in the table.
