Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan striker is currently a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
How much does Edinson Cavani earn?
Cavani reportedly took home £360,000-a-week during his time at PSG.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 33-year-old wants £9million (€10m) per year at Old Trafford.
That would work out as approximately £173,000 per week.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “Manchester United are in talks with Edinson Cavani agents.
“He wants a long term deal + more than €10m/season as wages + huge agents fee.
“Cavani has been offered to #MUFC by days as also to other clubs – Benfica and Atlético deals months ago collapsed because of agents fee.”
The transfer window closes on Monday night, leaving United with just a matter of days to conclude their business.
The Red Devils have been linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho for most of the window and are also reportedly interested in Porto left-back Alex Telles.
United’s only signing this summer is the £40m capture of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
Discussing his squad ahead of the clash against Tottenham, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We’ve got players we believe in.
“The window is still open and the club know my view and we’re here to strengthen in the long-term.
“When I talk about the squad depth, of course the performances last season didn’t warrant me giving more of them more options… I think it’s a different scenario now.
“I’ve seen many of the other players who didn’t play too well the other season, play really well.
“We’ve lost loads of money, as the other clubs have as well. And when I talk about the squad depth, we’ve got a big squad.”
