Gabriel Jesus set to nearly double Man City wages in bumper new contract talks

Gabriel Jesus is the latest Manchester City star in line for a bumper new contract.

The Brazil striker, 23, still has two-and-a-half years left on his existing Etihad deal.

But in a clear show of Pep Guardiola’s faith in Jesus, the club are ready to offer him an improved terms worth £150,000-a-week.

That would almost double the player’s salary overnight – and is another step in City’s plan to secure the services of all their top stars for the next chapter in Guardiola’s reign.

The Spanish coach signed his own new contract last week, committing himself to the club until June 2023.

And with contract talks underway with Belgium ace Kevin de Bruyne and England starlet Phil Foden, they now want to nail down Jesus.

The ex-Palmeiras forward cost £25million in January 2017 and has since scored 43 times in 104 Premier League games, winning the title twice as well as two League Cups and the FA Cup.

Although not always deemed a first choice up front – as he often seen as an understudy to Sergio Aguero – the injury problems of the Argentine striker have gradually allowed Jesus to come to the fore in City’s attack.

Capped 41 times by Brazil, the South American remains a big favourite of Guardiola – thanks to his ability to create as well as score goals.
