Hungary manager’s prediction for Szoboszlai transfer as Arsenal linked with move

Hungary boss Marco Rossi reckons Dominik Szoboszlai will end up plying his trade in the Bundesliga next.

The midfielder has caught the eye of a number of clubs across Europe over the last 12 months with a string of impressive displays for Red Bull Salzburg.

Premier League big boys Arsenal are among the teams interested in acquiring his services, identifying him as a cheaper alternative to Lyon's Houssem Aouar.

Real Madrid and Napoli are also said to be contemplating signing the 20-year-old, who has scored 22 goals in 74 appearances since joining the Austrian side in 2018.

But Rossi can foresee the creative midfielder, who booked Hungary's place in the Euro 2020 finals last week, playing in Germany.

"I’ve never talked to him about Napoli but he reads and inquires," Rossi CalcioNapoli24 TV. "I wouldn’t mind if he moved to Napoli in Italy as, living in Pozzuoli, I would be able to see him more often.

"But my feeling is that he is more likely to end up in Germany: he is ready to make the leap, going to the Bundesliga where there’s a faster pace.

"The Austrian football of Salzburg is similar to that of the Bundesliga and a move to Italy would involve changes and periods of adaptation from a tactical point of view."

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has been thoroughly impressed by what he's seen of Szoboszlai and admits he wouldn't be shocked if the German champions place him on their wish-list.

“He is a gem,” Matthaus told Munchner Abendzeitung. “He’s like Kai Havertz.

“He could move to RB Leipzig in January, but I'm convinced that every top club in Europe has him on their list, including FC Bayern.

“In Hungary, Szoboszlai is already being compared to the great Ferenc Puskas.”

Szoboszlai and his Salzburg team-mates will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Strum Graz to the Red Bull Arena.
