Liverpool transfer round-up: Wilson close to loan exit, Reds eyeing winger

Liverpool had a pretty successful summer in terms of securing new players.

Thiago Alcantara was top of the pile after completing his move from Bayern Munich, and Kostas Tsimikas will provide some much-needed cover, while the Reds’ other new boy Diogo Jota has shown his early promise too.

However, the transfer window hasn’t shut entirely just yet. Premier League teams are still able to do business with Championship clubs until 5pm on Friday should they wish.

For Liverpool this looks far more likely to be in the shape of players leaving rather than new ones moving to Anfield.

And as transfer news never stops, there’s also still plenty of rumours linking players with joining the Reds in future windows.

Let’s take a look at the latest hot Liverpool transfer gossip.

Traore on Klopp’s shopping list

Liverpool have had great success with a Traore in their team in the past. Djimi played left-back as Rafa Benitez steered the Reds to an improbable Champions League title triumph in 2005.

It was partly improbable thanks to the presence of Traore in truth, but his namesake Adama might be on his way from Molineux to Anfield if rumours are to be believed.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via ESPN ), Wolves ’ flying winger is on Liverpool’s shopping list, with his price tag believed to be set at around the £60million mark.

Having raided Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for Jota this summer, could Traore follow him north in January?

With the teams set to meet in the first week of December, Jurgen Klopp should get another
close look at the Spain international ahead of the next transfer window.

Wilson set to return to former club?

Harry Wilson has twice as many loan moves under his belt as he has appearances for Liverpool since he broke into the Reds’ senior squad.

The Wales international has been farmed out to Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and
Bournemouth over the years, while he only recently made his second Liverpool appearance when he started their Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal.

He looks set to be going out on loan once again, with the BBC reporting that former club Derby are leading the chase.

Wilson had a successful spell with the Rams in 2018/19. He scored 16 Championship goals – the most by a midfielder that season (per WhoScored) – and helped them reach the play-off final.

They say you should never go back, but the 23-year-old appears happy to ignore that particular nugget of advice to join up with Phillip Cocu’s side for the rest of 2020/21.

Swansea also lodged a bid for Wilson, but Liverpool rejected it due to it not meeting their demands for a minimum fee.

Reds urged to sign Butland by their former player

With Alisson Becker having sustained an injury before Liverpool’s 7-2 defeat by Aston Villa, Klopp will have to put his faith in Adrian for the time being.

However, the Spaniard made a costly error at Villa Park which allowed the home team to open the scoring, and it wasn’t his first mistake while representing the Reds either.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has told the Football Index podcast (as reported by The Express ) that he feels the club should swoop for Stoke City’s Jack Butland, so that he can reinvigorate his career.

"This might be a tremendous opportunity for him to go to a wonderful club, learn from a brilliant goalkeeper, play some games, and start again,” Murphy said.

“That makes sense to me – I think signing
Jack Butland would be a clever bit of business."
