Manchester United will not let Brandon Williams leave on loan this month.
The 20-year-old has impressed in his senior appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having progressed through the academy, and his manager still believes he has a part to play this season.
That position had been put at risk following the imminent arrival of Brazil international defender Alex Telles, who is set to provide direct competition for Luke Shaw in the starting XI.
Williams, who made 36 appearances in all competitions last season as United progressed into the semi-finals of three cup competitions, is yet to start in the new Premier League season.
Daily Star Sport understand that United will not allow Williams to go out on-loan.
It means Solskjaer will have three left backs to choose from in the shape of Williams, Telles and Shaw, with the new signing keen to make his mark having made 49 appearances last season scoring 13 goals.
Solskjaer gave supporters an update on his transfer plans following their capitulation at Old Trafford against Tottenham, and he hinted that deals for Telles and Edinson Cavani were on the way.
He said: "Tonight is about addressing this and we know what we want to do and you'll probably know more tomorrow night when the window closes.
“We need to look at what we've got here and make more of that.
"The world is a different world at the moment. Everyone wants to have the squad they want as early as possible, we are still in a position where we can add to this.
“I’ve got a squad that I need to get more out of but we can still maybe, by tomorrow night, have an addition."
