Mohamed Salah filmed partying at wedding before testing positive for Covid-19

Footage of Mohamed Salah dancing at a wedding has emerged with the Liverpool star having tested positive for Covid-19.

The Egyptian FA confirmed the forward returned a positive test while away on international duty, though Salah is without symptoms.

The rest of the Egypt team were negative, leaving questions as to how Salah contracted the virus.

Though footage has now emerged, reportedly at the wedding of Salah’s brother, which shows the Reds ace dancing and in close contact with plenty of people.

He is wearing a mask for some of the clip, gained by Egypt Today Magazine, though the face covering is removed for another part.

The wedding of his brother Nasr was held in Cairo earlier this week with Salah posing for plenty of pictures without donning a face covering.

Salah had scored for Liverpool in their draw against Manchester City on Sunday before departing for international duty.

A statement from the Egyptian FA read: "The medical swab conducted on our national football team showed that our player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, is infected with coronavirus after his test came positive, although he does not suffer from any symptoms, while the other members of the team tested negative.

  • Liverpool warned of ‘inflated prices’ while Virgil van Dijk now worth up to £225m

"Our international star underwent the medical protocol after contact between the doctor of the team. Mohammed Abu Al-Ola, and his English club Liverpool, in addition to isolating him inside his room and also isolating all contacts.

"Our star is subject to more checks during the coming hours."

Salah could now miss Liverpool matches with the Reds returning to action next weekend against Leicester.

  • Jurgen Klopp could benefit from Kalidou Koulibaly’s close relationship with Sadio Mane

Manager Jurgen Klopp is already having to deal with something of a crisis due to long-term defensive injuries to Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also on the sidelines with a calf injury with Joel Matip the only recognised senior centre-back for Liverpool.

Though England boss Gareth Southgate gave little away on Klopp’s frustrations, saying: “I had a long chat with Jurgen last night, we’re all worried about player welfare.

“To lose a player in the way we did yesterday – for us and Liverpool, but most importantly for the boy – was really tragic.

“I said to him, ‘there needs to be a look at the calendar’. We’ve fortunate in that we’ve got the six subs tonight – and five for the Nations League games. We’ve got to try and lessen the load as much as we can for the players.”
