Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists he can still win trophies with Manchester United this season without having to make new signings.
And he has hit back at his former team-mates for slamming the club's transfer failings – and told them to speak to him about their concerns instead of telling the whole world.
United have come under fire from the likes of Patrice Evra, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Darren Fletcher after failing to spend big in the summer transfer window.
The English giants have failed to land No.1 target Jadon Sancho along with a host of other targets.
Holland international Donny van de Beek has been the only new arrival at Old Trafford, with United supporters seeing all of their rivals make significant signings in the past few weeks.
But Solskjaer is adamant he still has enough talent to win silverware and have a good campaign.
He said: "We've got players here we believe in. The transfer window is still open for a little while and the club has been working and knows my view.
"We're here to strengthen in the long term as well and I'm not going to say what's acceptable for other teams in this difficult period.
"The main thing now obviously is to get results on the pitch. We need to get results and there are many, many ways to improve the team.

"We're working here inside the four walls and on the pitch to get better. I keep reading about players that should be playing instead of ones that are playing, so that tells me I've got a strong squad. There is more competition for places now.
"We have players to get results. Pat, Rio, Gary and Fletch have always been welcome here to talk to me instead of…… doing their jobs. We're all wanting Manchester United as high as possible, it's my job and that's what I'm working with."
Towards the end of last season Solskjaer claimed United could "exploit" a transfer market affected by the Covid-19 crisis, due to his club's huge wealth and spending power.
But United have done nothing of the sort and even the one player they have signed is struggling to be a regular starter under Solskjaer.
The Norwegian admits he regrets his choice of words now and added: "I think my wording in lockdown 'exploit' was a bad word by me.
"I didn't mean it in that respect, I meant clubs out there have to move because of the situation and it might be a situation for us.
"We've lost loads of money like the other clubs have as well. And when I talk about the squad depth, of course the performances didn't warrant me giving more of them more options. The 11, 12, 13 players deserved to play."
