Ousmane Dembele has completed individual training sessions at Barcelona after a deadline day move to Manchester United failed to materialise.
United spent much of the window chasing a right winger, with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho believed to be their top target.
Their refusal to meet the German club’s £108million valuation meant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to look at potential alternatives.
Dembele was one of those options as Barcelona looked to offload their fringe players in order to combat the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Ronald Koeman has reportedly made the Frenchman surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, finding himself behind Ansu Fati and Francisco Trincao in the pecking order.
Three years after signing from Dortmund, Dembele has regularly been criticised for his attitude, despite suffering a raft of serious injuries.
And according to Sport, he is looking to change that opinion, making himself available for extra sessions, even after Koeman gave his players time off.
The report suggests Dembele was given Monday off as speculation continued to swirl about his long-term future.
In order to make up for that lost session, the 23-year-old trained on his own on Wednesday and Thursday as he looks to send a message to Koeman.
Reports have claimed that Dembele had no interest in joining Man United and he still has a desire to work his way back into the starting line-up at Barca.
Juventus have been credited with an interest after claims that Douglas Costa could go the other way in a swap deal.
That also didn’t happen and now Dembele is fully focused on resurrecting his career after missing the majority of the 2019/20 campaign.
United meanwhile managed to sign three attacking players on deadline day, although there have been concerns that they were low down on Solskjaer’s wishlist.
Edinson Cavani signed on a free transfer after leaving PSG, whilst youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo also signed in the final hours of the window.
