Thiago was reportedly convinced to sign for the Premier League champions following video calls with Klopp, which left him enthused about the project in store.
The 29-year-old played 100 times for Barcelona’s first-team between the years of 2009 and 2013, winning two La Liga titles, one Champions League and one Copa del Rey crown.
But he clearly wanted to start a new chapter in his career and opted for a move to Merseyside.

Thiago’s move to Anfield was one of the most exciting of the transfer window, and he made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea last month.
However, he has yet to feature since after testing positive for coronavirus at the end of last month before he was forced to self-isolate.
The midfielder missed Liverpool’s Premier League clashes against both Arsenal and Aston Villa but he is in line to return for the crunch Merseyside derby away at Everton this Saturday.
